Who are Links Business Services?
Joe Dostal is Managing Director of Links Business Services and is passionate about helping small businesses achieve their goals and ambitions. Joe's strengths lie in developing a trusting relationship, bringing clarity and simplification to any issue and creating positive next steps.
Joe spent the first fourteen years of his commercial career as a management accountant in manufacturing, wholesale distribution and the computer industry working for well known companies such as Norton Triumph and Honeywell Computers.
He realised in the late 1970’s that computing would dominate the business world and decided to cross train as a programmer / analyst with IBM, later moving onto project management and finally I.T Director for a major paper wholesale and distribution company where he controlled four sites in the U.K with data links to Europe.
During the late eighties he set up his first company offering a new approach to consultancy, especially for those companies using mainly IBM hardware where development was constrained by budget and bureaucracy. Joe believed then that companies should begin to use I.T to integrate departments and business functions to help drive the business forward and for I.T to be open to everyone and not seen as a black art.
As technology developed and changed the company began to diversify offering specialised application development involving the integration between Personal Computing and Midrange / Mainframe computing. Primarily this service was offered to blue chip companies such as Selfridges, Adams Childrenswear and Standard Chartered Bank.
In order to achieve the necessary integration Joe worked very closely with all department heads of an organisation, sales, marketing, finance and warehousing, this is where he gained a unique understanding of their practices, their needs and their requirements.
As the century drew to a close more and more small companies were being formed utilizing the World Wide Web for communication, commerce and knowledge.
Joe realised that small businesses would struggle to compete, develop and grow due to a lack of resources and restrictions of an individuals time.
In 2003 Links Business Services was formed with the objective of offering a range of key business services that small businesses could dip in and out of as and when required. In order to complement Joe’s knowledge and experience, he assembled a team of associates who’s skills and professions supplement the business services being offered.
Joe wants companies to view Links Business Services as an extension of their own organisation whether they are an owner/manager or a limited company.
Joe is married with two teenage children, who keep him on his toes, and a loyal mature golden retriever.
Joe loves being by the sea, boating, fishing, swimming or just simply sitting on the beach watching the sun go down. As a complete contrast, Joe's other passion is cooking, unfortunately his wife always thinks a bomb has hit the kitchen, although she does enjoy the meals.
